Andromeda Botanic Gardens is the oldest garden in Barbados. It was created by the multi-award winning Iris Bannochie. winner of three gold medals at the Chelsea Flower Show; the RHS Veitch Medal recipient; and holder of the Silver Crown of Merit from the government of Barbados. Andromeda is one of the finest post-war gardens and contains hundreds of different species. Mrs Bannochie started Andromeda in 1954 and continued adding to her plant collection until her death in 1988, bequeathing Andromeda to the Barbados National Trust.
